Prescribing overview
Baytril Taste Tabs are oral veterinary tablets; feline retinal toxicity makes the cat dose ceiling critical.
Key prescribing checks
- Feline retinal toxicity and loss of vision are important safety concerns. Check species-specific prescribing limits in the full label; never transfer a dog regimen to a cat.
- Review developmental-stage and neurologic precautions before prescribing. Antimicrobial selection should reflect the clinical diagnosis and susceptibility information when available.
- Metal-containing antacids or supplements can interfere with quinolone absorption. The US label prohibits extra-label use in food-producing animals; checking that restriction is essential when reconciling a mixed-species medication list.
Uses by species
Approval and evidence apply to the named product, species, route and indication. An extra-label use requires its own prescribing assessment; a human indication is not an animal approval.

Active ingredients
Enrofloxacin
Baytril Taste Tabs are oral enrofloxacin tablets. Baytril Otic adds silver sulfadiazine and is an ear product, so it is not a synonym for these tablets.
Livestock Baytril formulations have separate labels and concentration/route requirements. This dog/cat entry does not supply livestock treatment instructions.
Shared ingredients do not establish interchangeable concentrations, routes, release properties, species labeling or regional availability.
